We are Mary and Tony Gibson and the Golden Goose is our shop.
Having both studied for degrees in design - graphics/illustration and product, we then worked in those disciplines for some 20 years, before deciding to turn to design led gift retailing in the St Catherines area of Frome.
We outgrew each of our first two shops on Catherine Hill, and our now in our third and largest premises in the town.
From here we offer our customers a wonderful selection of gifts and an enjoyable shopping experience.
A little bit about Frome.
A market town at the time of the Domesday book, Frome was also a prosperous town during the middle ages as a centre for the wool and cloth trade.
The town was founded in 685 AD by the abbot of Malmesbury, reputedly on the site of the chuch of St John, in the town centre. Well worth a visit.
With more listed buildings than any other town in Somerset, Frome is a pleasing environment of independent shops and cafes with cobbled streets and interesting architecture.
Frome is also a thriving community of artists, designers, musicians and crafts people. Each year this is celebrated in the Frome festival:
